Dear Friend:

This is an intensely personal story, yet I hope that by sharing it, you might feel my commitment to you as you consider joining our global family.

VEA (VEAYA)Higginson WatsonI named our company after my mother, Vea (pronounced Veaya), she was a wonderful woman who shaped the values of her family. Like most mothers, she was very concerned about the health and welfare of her family. She believed that true health could be achieved by natural foods free from harmful ingredients and toxins. My mother was an avid gardener and she taught her children how to work and enjoy the fruits of the earth and its harvest.

As a young man, I was attending college at a local university. I was enjoying life and having fun. My mother's dream was for me to attend the prestigious, Brigham Young University in Provo Utah. She gently tried to convince me to transfer but I resisted. My priorities were focused on enjoying the present, more than thinking of the future.

After a while, I accepted her invitation to visit the school, but I had no intention of leaving my friends and moving to Utah.

We made the trip together and the journey gave us time to talk. During that trip I became closer to my mother and truly began to understand her better than ever before. She told me about her love for her family, my father, my brothers and sisters. We shared our hopes and dreams. I was surprised to know that even at the age of 52, my mother still had many exciting goals and objectives in her life. She wanted to travel, see far off lands and experience other cultures. She wanted to write a book and become more involved in local theater. Many of her goals centered on her children.

She had three wishes for me:

1. That I would smile more.
2. That I would become closer to God.
3. That I would learn that true happiness and success comes from serving and loving others.

Upon our arrival, we toured the campus. It was a pleasant experience, yet I was not giving it any serious consideration. For me this was just a nice short vacation with my mom.

While in Provo, we stayed at my aunt's house.

That evening, while having dinner, tragedy struck. My mother had a sudden stroke and died.

Those of you who have suffered the unexpected loss of a loved-one understand the pain that comes from an event such as this. For me, the world had shattered into pieces. I had to call my father and break the news to him and the rest of my family that Vea (Veaya) was not coming home.

I returned home and a few days later I gave the eulogy at her funeral. I had no idea how popular she was until I saw the huge crowd in attendance. Thousands of people loved my mother.

My life would never be the same. A choice had to be made. I could spend the rest of my life bitter and living in pain, anger and darkness or I could become a better person and enjoy each and every precious moment of this beautiful experience we call life.

Although I could never bring my mom back, I could decide to restore my own life!

I chose LIFE!

Since that time I have embraced life for myself and for my mother. I immediately transferred to Brigham Young University and completed my degree. I have learned to smile more, sometimes for no reason at all. I have been blessed to visit the world and experience success in over 50 countries.

Everywhere on this earth moms just like mine have the same dream for their families. A better life and opportunity for their children.
